Overview
Aviation sealing is about chain of custody: a trolley, a cabin store or a checked bag is sealed at one point and the seal is verified at the next, and any interference in between has to be visible without opening the container. Sequential numbering is what makes the system work — the number is recorded at sealing and checked at receipt, so a substituted seal is caught even if it looks identical.
